January’s Horse Pick

Fal’Bala D’Aury - 2015 Mare by Contendro

Fal'Bala d'Aury, a 2015 brown Selle Français mare excelling at 1.40m show jumping, descends from the accomplished bay Holsteiner Contendro I. She carries the impressive genes of Contender and Bravo.

Currently, she's available for trials in Madrid, offering a fantastic opportunity for those looking to experience her talents firsthand.

Montparnasse - 2017 Gelding by Chapeau Tn

Montparnasse, a dark brown gelding born in 2017 with a KWPN pedigree, showcases his jumping talent at 1.25/30m. His lineage, featuring Chapeau TN, Clearway, and Capitol I, is known for impressive performances up to 1.55m and 1.60m.

This promising gelding is currently available for trials in the UK, presenting a great opportunity for those seeking a horse with a notable pedigree and solid jumping experience.

January's Show Jumping Summary: New Year, New Achievements

Richard Vogel stood out with a remarkable victory at the $140,000 Keyflow Feeds USA CSI3* Grand Prix at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, showcasing his exceptional riding skills and his horse Cydello's agility.

In Europe, Ireland's Daniel Coyle clinched a significant win at the 11th leg of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2023/2024 Western European League series in Leipzig, riding Legacy. This win highlighted the duo's exceptional partnership and Coyle's riding prowess.

Eduardo Alvarez Aznar welcomed Made In’T Ruytershof to his stable, and Sergio Alvarez Moya added Böckmann's Lord Pezi Junior to his barn, while Juliette Faligot’s Arqana de Riverland trotted over to join Great Britain’s John Whitaker, probably hoping for some English tea and scones post-training.

In terms of accolades, McLain Ward was named the 2023 USEF International Equestrian of the Year, acknowledging his outstanding achievements over the year. Additionally, his ride, HH Azur, was voted SmartPak/USEF International Horse of the Year 2023.

There were also honors in Switzerland, where Steve Guerdat, Sabina Cartossi, and Michel Sorg were awarded the Swiss Equestrian Golden Badges of Honour at the Longines CHI Classics Basel.

Lastly, an international equestrian championship in Kuwait marked a significant event in the Middle East, featuring a large number of participants and substantial prizes, indicating a growing interest in equestrian sports in the region.
